I was wondering if people who suffer from depression, or who have had to deal with depression in themselves or someone close to them, might find it helpful to share thoughts, ideas, experiences and benefits or otherwise of certain treatments. Depression can be a lonely experience and a forum for this problem might provide some mutual support. I am both a sufferer and a doctor and although it is not something I would wish to have, it certainly has given me a greater ability to understand what people with mental health problems have to endure, both positive and negative. I'd particularly like to know from you which, if any, treatments, you have found to be most effective. What types of 'non-orthodox' healing have you found useful? How much support do you get from people around you. How does it affect your relationships and your work? |
